Thermostatic Expansion Valve (TXV)

A thermostatic expansion valve (TXV) is a small HVAC part that plays a big role in air conditioning systems and heat pump systems. This valve regulates the flow of refrigerant entering the evaporator in the refrigeration cycle. An outdoor AC unit will have one TXV, but a heat pump may have two – one each for the cooling and heating cycles.
